Are your tools different than those at college career centers?

The aptitude testing and coaching methods we use at pathfinders are vastly more advanced than career center services. No exaggeration, the tools they use are so archaic that college students rank the value of most campus career centers lower than the parking lot. The bulk of the career testing that you will find at the typical college center is based on self assessing your interests and skills by asking what you like or dislike (stuff you already know about yourself).

For the most part, colleges are not in the business of helping you figure out what to do with your life, they’re mainly interested in helping you become a marketable product. College career centers are mostly set up to prepare you for job interviews and resume writing. If you don’t know what you’re cut out for, there is little they can do to help you sort it all out. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule; some schools may go the extra mile.

When it comes to reaching their potential; about 70% of college educated professionals say they feel like a cat stuck up a tree, and it gets dull and boring after many years of trying to excel in careers that were essentially a stab in the dark.
